The subscriber hereby applies to the Chester Municipal Electric Light Department to be supplied with electric service by meter and agrees to the following terms and conditions on behalf of themselves, their household members, and employees and agents:
- To pay for the same promptly at current rates and according to the rules of the Department.
- To be held responsible for all electricity consumed under this application until forty-eight hours after notice in writing shall be given to said Department to discontinue the supply.
- To make any deposit required by the Department. A deposit for up to three months’ worth of electricity, not less than $400.00 will be required upon application. If the customer moves, the deposit, plus interest in accordance with Chapter 164, Section 58A of the Massachusetts General Laws, will be deducted from any final amount owed. In the event there is a credit balance, a check will be issued to the consumer in the amount of the credit. Interest on deposits will be credited in December of each year.
- That the meter is the property of the Department.
- That no person except a Department employee shall make any changes or do any work of any nature whatever upon the meter or connections leading thereto, without previous written notice to and written consent of said Department.
- That the duly authorized agents of said Department shall have free and unencumbered access at all reasonable hours to the Department’s property on said premise for any purpose whatsoever.
- That upon any failure by the consumer to comply with any of the terms of the agreement, the Department shall have the right to immediately sever the connections and discontinue the supply.
- That the Department will not be held liable for any personal injury or property damage caused by the interruption of electricity supplied to said premises, it being understood that the Department will use good business practices to keep the supply of electricity continuous and safe.
- That in dealing with the Chester Municipal Electric Light Department, the subscriber is dealing with an agency of the Town of Chester and that this is an agreement between the subscriber and the Town of Chester.
